Wichita is a city that lies in the county of Sedgwick County, Kansas, United States. It is located in south of Central Kansas and falls on the Arkansas River. Owing to its high populace, the city has been described as the 51st largest country in the United States.
This city came into being in the 1870. Wichita was a result of the success of several businessmen who came to the place with a view to trade with the native populations. The position of the city is such that it automatically became a destination for cattle drives who were headed north to access railroads. This city was also established as the "Air Capital of the World". This was a result of the efforts of several aircraft pioneers. Bill Lear, Walter Beech and Clyde Cessna are some popular aircraft pioneers who are responsible for giving Wichita its present status. They set up aircraft positions which made Wichita the hub for the aircraft industry. Apart from being an aircraft hub, the city also makes for a great entertainment and cultural center. The place has countless museums, parks, night clubs, restaurants and shopping centers. It is this sprawling lifestyle of the city, that has made it a tourist attraction over the past few years. In fact, the city also made it to the tenth spot in the CNN's magazine Money list of big cities to live. Newsmax magazine also described the city as most 'Uniquely American'. This place as an absolutely interesting history to its credit. It came into being some time after it was visited by Francisco Vásquez de Coronado. He met a group of people whom he described as Quiviras. Archaeological studies reveal that this group of people was Wichita Indians. If certain studies are to be believed, it were these people who eventually led to the establishment of Wichita. It was in the year 1870 that the city officially came into being. The climate of this city is primarily humid and subtropical. The summers in the city are absolutely hot and humid, where as the winters are cold and dry. Even though the place is characterized by diverse temperatures, it has sunny days for most part of the year. The rainfall of the area is slightly below average. On an average, the city receives measurable precipitation only for 21 days of the year. Wichita is indeed a beautiful land. It has a beautiful history, a peculiar culture that clubs traditional and modern in the best way possible and a great economy too.
